Animal Breeder, Pigs - Shanghai-China

Vacancy for a young animal breeder with interest and preferably experience in breeding value estimation in pigs.

The position will be available in Shanghai-China and we are looking for candidates that speak and write Chinese as well as English.

 Breeding Software Specialist – Breeding Value Estimation, bringing the best of genetic evaluation to the Chinese pig industry 

C-pig is a young sino-foreign equity joint venture company, engaged in pig breeding and pig farming related technology support, consultancy and service. Based on developed Nucleus and Multipliers farms, C-pig will set up the leading and professional pig breeding and production system to support the Chinese pig production. 

C-pig seeks a young and enthusiastic technician to prepare, further develop and execute breeding value estimation in such a way that the maximum impact of genetic evaluation will be achieved for the Chinese customers. 

You’ll join a young and dynamic team focused on designing and implementing new genetic strategies for a wide range of Chinese customers all active in pig breeding and production. The team comprises well-established and emerging specialists and (farm) managers with expertise in a wide range of disciplines, and works closely with industry groups, research and commercial partners, both nationally and internationally. 

This is a permanent position. You will be responsible for: 

• Initiating and delivering the breeding database based on existing but the latest tools and programs. 

• Initiate, further develop and execute the breeding value estimation on regular basis. 

• Maintain and further develop customer partnerships to improve the breeding values for the customer, both in development of the breeding goal as well as in the field of reliability and amount of gathered data. 

• Networking with and presenting seminars to customers 

You should be a motivated, independent worker as well as team player and career minded breeding value estimation specialist and have 

• A MSc or other high level post graduate degree in Animal Breeding, preferably in pig breeding. 

• Proven experience and interest in databases (SQL, Sybase) and breeding value estimation (BLUP, MABLUP or MIXBLUP) 

• A desire to apply your skills and experience to the development of breeding and selection criteria for the Chinese pig industry 

• Excellent networking skills as well as excellent English and Chinese language skills
