REPORTS TO:                  Genetic Development Manager
POSITION LOCATION:    Hendersonville, TN

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
·         PhD in Animal Breeding, Genetics or a related field.
·         Strong understanding of the technologies that are used to make genetic improvement.
·         Experience with livestock field data and routinely working with BLUP methods.
·         Ability to implement the latest BLUP technologies utilizing many genotypes.
·         Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
·         Programming skills include Fortran90, Perl, and SQL.
·         Experience in bioinformatics data analysis and manipulation of sequencing data is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a results-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently, proficiently and quickly complete priority projects for the business.
  • Superior Technical Writing Skills.
  

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the development of BLUP platforms in a rapidly changing science that utilize large pedigrees in combination with many phenotypes and genotypes.
  • Working with a broader team of geneticists to implement the developed products as part of a routine global, genetic evaluation platform.
  • Remain current in area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry and academic contacts, studying literature and attending specific scientific meetings.
  • Hold confidential all product and program proprietary knowledge.
